It was a wonderful evening of celebration, recognition and remembering those who helped make Good Shepherd Manor’s mission a reality over the last 50 years!
In addition, the Meet The Manor Need, raised $25,000 at the Gala. With the dollar for dollar match from an anonymous donor, $50,000 was raised for the GSM Chapel Repair Fund. We are so excited to finally celebrate Good Shepherd Manor’s 50th Anniversary on April 8th at the Odyssey Venue in Tinley Park!
Good Shepherd Manor is proud to celebrate more than 50 years of service in caring for men with developmental and intellectual disabilities. The Gala is a celebration to reunite all of the many families of those men who have called Good Shepherd Manor home! This is also an opportunity to celebrate 50 years as a non-profit organization serving Kankakee County. The program will honor the families, the Manor residents, the staff as well as the generous community of donors who have continuously supported Good Shepherd Manor.
Held in the elegant splendor of The Odyssey in Tinley Park, Illinois, we invite our guests to enjoy a semi-formal celebratory evening with complimentary valet, open wine/beer bar, butler & station hors d’oeuvres, a delicious five-course dinner and dessert, a champagne toast plus three hours of dancing to the best songs over the last five decades performed by the Midnight Band! After much thought and gathering feedback from the Ways & Means and Gala committee members, as well as a cross section of Board and Foundation members and staff, we have decided it would be in the best interests of GSM to postpone and reschedule the 50th Anniversary Gala. There are just too many unknowns right now with the ongoing pandemic. This decision was not taken lightly and was not an easy one to make, but we believe in the end it will work out for the best.
We were able to work with the Odyssey to reschedule the Gala to April 8, 2022. The Brunch Auction that was scheduled for May 1 will be cancelled due to the proximity to the rescheduled Gala. Please mark your calendars for April 8 and let’s pray that this will finally come together!
As someone told us as we were gathering feedback, we must put safety before celebration. We look forward to next April!
